Microbiome management

Microorganisms are responsible for numerous important material conversion processes in bioeconomic production systems.

Knowledge of the composition of microbial communities (microbiomes) enables us to predict the stability of desired conditions or impending undesirable changes and to trigger control reactions. Microbiomes are interconnected via biomass flows in bioeconomy systems.

What we are planning:

  • We are setting up a farm microbiome monitoring system.
  • We are identifying microbial system status indicators.
  • We are specifically supporting self-regulation processes in soil, plants, animals and farm fertilisers and use beneficial microorganisms.
  • We are preventing the spread of pathogens and antimicrobial resistance.
